How much does UFE cost?
UFE is not cheap. In fact, it costs about the same as a hysterectomy. The real savings come from the fast recovery and the low rate of complications.
You will be billed for our first clinical meeting, the MRI you will need to have before your UFE, the hospital charge for your UFE, and my professional fee for UFE. We will have one follow-up clinic visit and you will have a follow-up MRI.
Of these the hospital charge for the UFE is by far the largest. If your insurance policy indicates that you will pay 20% of all of these charges (20% is very typical for insurance policies), you can expect to have out-of-pocket expenses of around $2000-$3000. If you have a deductible that you have not yet met, that will be an additional expense.
If you do not have insurance and intend to pay cash for the procedure, the cost to you will be about $10,000-$15,000. My professional group (STRG) and the hospital will work with you to develop a payment plan. Financial Counseling at Methodist Hospital is (210) 575-4076.
