Assisting me in clinic

Thank you for helping me and my patients during their clinic visit.

General comments: You are the first person in STRIC the patient will meet, and we never get a chance to make a second first impression. Your task is critical to gaining the patient's confidence and trust. Please greet them politely.

In-Take Forms: Please make sure each form is filled out. UFE and PAE patients may have downloaded the forms and filled them out before they arrive; still check to make sure each is complete. If you are unsure which forms are needed for a particular patient, please ask me.

Vital Signs: Please take the patient's blood pressure, measure their heart rate and breathing rate, take temperature and weigh them.

First encounter vs follow-up encounters: For most first encounters I ask that most patient's change into a gown to facilitate their physical exam. They can leave on undergarments, but shoes and socks should be removed. If the idea of changing clearly upsets them, let me know and I will speak to them and decide if they do or do not have to change.
For most follow-up encounters patients do not have to change, unless they want me to see something (like a bruise or skin change or new lump).

Elation: I used an Electronic Medical Record called Elation in 2020-21, but stopped using it in April, 2021 at STRIC's request. You will not be asked to interface with Elation.
